on march 2, nikhil seth, the un assistant secretary-general and executive director of unitar , visited tsinghua university. yang bin, vice president and provost of tsinghua university, met with the guest. the two parties conducted discussions on deepening their strategic partnership. xue lan, dean of the sppm at tsinghua university; meng bo, associate dean of office for international cooperation and exchange at tsinghua university; and zhu xufeng, associate dean of the sppm, attended the meeting.
on behalf of tsinghua university, yang bin extended his greeting to nikhil seth during the talk. he stated that tsinghua university regards the cooperation with international organizations as an important part of its global strategy and hopes that both sides will exert efforts in deepening the collaborations in the thu-unige joint training and dual master degree program.
nikhil seth noted that implementing sustainable development goals will not only benefit china but also help other developing countries. he also expressed his hope of promoting the co-construction of the thu-unige degree program.
nikhil seth visited the sppm and institute for sustainable development goals (tusdg) after the meeting. then, he provided a lecture entitled “building capacity for the 2030 agenda for sustainable development” at the sppm 302 room to more than 40 attendees.
on june 8, 2015, nikhil seth was appointed by ban ki-moon, the united nations secretary-general, as the un assistant secretary-general, executive director of the united nations institute for training and research. on january 25, 2018, tusdg appointed nikhil seth as a member of its international advisory committee.
